๐ Privacy Policy โ Car Logbook
This policy explains how the Car Logbook: Fuel and Service mobile app ("the App"), developed by Sogepps, handles data.
In short
- The app has no account or sign-in, no ads and no in-app purchases. It also has no ad library, no analytics of our own and no server; as the developer we cannot access any of your data.
- Your vehicles, fuel, service and cost entries, reminders, documents, photos and settings are stored only on your phone and are never sent to us.
- You export backup files, the yearly report and the Sale File (PDF) and CSV files yourself; they go only to the app or folder you choose in Android's share menu.
- The app uses the camera only when you tap the camera button to photograph an invoice or document (the photo stays on your phone), and the notification permission only to remind you of upcoming jobs (optional). It does not ask for location, microphone, contacts or storage permissions.
- Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes all your records. In case you lose your phone, share a backup file now and then.
1. We don't collect personal data
We (Sogepps), the developer of Car Logbook, do not collect your personal data, do not store it on our own servers and do not share it with anyone. The app has no account or sign-in, no ads, no in-app purchases and no analytics of our own.
2. Information that stays on your device
The vehicles you add (name, brand, model, year, plate, chassis and engine numbers, purchase details), fuel, service and cost entries, mileage notes, reminders, documents, the photos you attach (invoices, registration, policy, inspection reports), your own categories and settings are stored only on your phone, in the app's local storage. Photos are shrunk and kept inside the app. This information is never sent to us. Every day the app makes an automatic backup copy on your phone (the last 14 days are kept); these copies also stay in the app's own folder.
If Android's device backup is turned on on your phone, Android may back up the app's data to your Google account under its own rules. Android does this, not us; we cannot access that backup and we do not see your data.
3. Files you export
You export backup files (optionally with photos), the yearly report (PDF), the Sale File (PDF), CSV files and trip cost summaries yourself. They go only to the app or folder you choose in Android's share menu (for example a messaging, email or file app). You decide what goes into a Sale File: you can mask the plate and leave out the purchase price, cost amounts and personal details. Photos you add to it are included as they are, so check what they show before you share it. How the apps you share with handle your data depends on their own privacy policies.
When you restore a backup, import a CSV file or pick a photo from the gallery, only the file you choose is opened by the app.
4. Permissions
Camera: used only when you tap the camera button on an entry or document screen, to photograph an invoice, registration, policy or report; the photo is saved only inside the app and is never sent to us. If you decline, you can pick photos from the gallery instead. Notifications: optional, used only to remind you of upcoming jobs on their due day; the app keeps working if you decline. To show notifications on time and to reschedule them when the phone restarts, the app also uses Android's alarm scheduling, boot-completed, wake-lock and vibration permissions. It does not ask for location, microphone, contacts or storage permissions.
5. No ads and no purchases
The app has no ads and no in-app purchases, so no advertising ID, payment or card information is processed.
6. Internet access
The app works offline, does not connect to any server and does not send data. Because of the Android app framework the app's manifest lists the internet permission, but the app's code makes no network requests.
7. Children
Car Logbook is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
8. Data deletion
All of your data stays on your device. You can delete your records permanently by uninstalling the app, by clearing the app's data in your Android settings, or with "Delete all data" in the app's Settings; single vehicles, entries and documents can also be deleted in the app. There is no data on our servers to delete. Backups and files you exported earlier are outside the app, so you must delete them yourself; for a copy kept in an Android backup, use your Google account's backup settings.
9. Changes to this policy
