🔐 Privacy Policy – Ask the Witch
This policy explains how the Ask the Witch (Cadıya Sor) mobile app ("the App"), developed by Sogepps, handles data.
In short
- No account, no sign-in, no registration — we have no server for this app, so nothing is sent to us.
- The questions you ask, your answers/readings journal and your favorites stay on your device only.
- The crystal ball screen uses the motion sensor to detect shaking; it is never recorded anywhere.
- The app contains ads. Google AdMob, which serves them, processes device identifiers, approximate location and diagnostics.
- In the EU, the UK and similar regions you are asked for consent to ad personalization, and you can change that choice in Settings.
1. Information that stays on your device
Ask the Witch does not require an account or a sign-in. We have no server for this app; the following information is kept only in your device's local storage and is never sent to us or anyone else:
- The questions you type
- Your answers/readings journal and favorites
- Your daily-omen streak (how many days in a row)
- Language, sound, music and vibration settings
- A random per-install number assigned to your device to make the daily omen and answers feel personal to you
You can delete this information at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.
2. Motion sensor, sharing and review prompt
While the crystal ball screen is open, the motion sensor (accelerometer) is read to detect that you're shaking the phone. This data is processed only on your device; it is never stored or sent anywhere.
When you tap Share, the app draws an image of your answer on your device and hands it to your phone's share sheet; the image goes only where you choose to send it.
The app may ask Google Play to show its own in-app rating dialog; that is handled by Google Play.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free and shows interstitial ads between readings; no ads are shown while you rub the cauldron, hold the book or swirl the crystal ball. Ads are served through the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) by Google LLC. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, this SDK collects the following data and shares it with Google:
- Device or other IDs: the Android advertising ID and app set ID
- Approximate location: a coarse location derived from the IP address
- App activity: interactions with ads (impressions, clicks)
- App info and performance: crash logs and diagnostics
Data is encrypted in transit. How Google uses this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and in the Google Privacy Policy.
4. Your choices
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and regulated US states you are asked on first launch whether ads may be personalized. You can change your decision at any time under "Ad privacy choices" in the app's Settings.
- In your Android device settings you can reset or delete your advertising ID and turn off personalized ads.
- You can also use the app without an internet connection; then no ads are loaded and no data is sent.
5. Children
Ask the Witch is an entertainment app for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
6. Data retention and deletion
Because there are no accounts, we store no user data. Local data on your device is deleted when the app is uninstalled. Retention of advertising data by Google is governed by Google's policies.
7. Changes to this policy
When this policy is updated, the new text is published on this page together with the date it takes effect.
